A beautiful example of an ungraduated, warm 9ct gold Victorian Albert watch chain. As far as antique gold goes, this chain is leaning more towards yellow than rosey gold. Complete with that aged, warm patina we love so dearly, this really is a stunning piece. It is hallmarked or stamped to every link and component. There are makers marks to the dog clip and t-bar however these do not match, so one of these components has been replaced at some stage. The most likely scenario being that the original dog clip lost its 'spring' and had to be swapped. This chain is on the shorter side so it sits elegantly at the collarbone, making it a great layering chain to wear with longer pieces.

Gold: Solid, Antique, 9ct Gold, leaning more towards yellow than rosey.

Length: 34.5cm / 13.6"

Width: 5.5mm ungraduated

Weight: 37.1g

Hallmarks: Chain & Jump Rings: 9 375 for 9ct Gold. Dog Clip: Makers mark EW&S and 9 375 for 9ct Gold. T-bar: Makers mark M&M, 9 375 for 9ct Gold, and Anchor for Birmingham. EW&S relates to E Whitehouse & Son of Vyse Street, Birmingham. M&M relates to Manton & Mole of Birmingham. On the valid assumption that the t-bar is original, this chain was likely produced in the very late 1800's, very early 1900's, making it late Victorian or Edwardian.

Condition: Fantastic antique condition. Dog clip is fully functioning and has plenty of 'spring' in it.

Condition

All our jewellery is pre-loved, vintage or antique, which, by definition, is second-hand. It is not new. It has been worn for years, decades and in some cases a century or more. Most items will show signs of wear in line with their age and history, such as scuffs, scratches or dents. This should be expected and is part of the charm of second-hand jewellery. When describing our pieces we will call out any noticeable imperfections in the description and photos, please be sure to study them carefully before making a purchase 🖤

Packaging

We try to align our small business with the sustainability of buying pre-loved, vintage and antique pieces.

As some of you may remember, for a long while we packaged pieces in small aluminium tins that you can keep and reuse. This was to avoid as much packaging waste as possible. For various reasons, we now send items in branded cardboard jewellery boxes, carefully packaged in tissue paper and shipping boxes. These are recyclable, so we kindly ask you, where possible, to recycle or re-use as much of our packaging as possible ♽

If you would prefer to receive your piece in an aluminium tin then please do feel free to leave a note when you check out and we will do our best to accommodate.

We do sometimes have new and second-hand jewellery boxes available if you prefer. These will always be in an excellent second-hand condition. Please see our other products page for availability.

Please note: any boxes featured in product photos are props only and are not included in the listing for sale unless otherwise stated.

Returns

For our Returns policy, see our returns section.

Before purchasing, please be sure to read descriptions throughly, paying particular attention to dimensions and sizes. Please double check using a tape measure or ring sizer where applicable. Look carefully at all pictures and videos, and do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions 🖤

Resizing & Alterations

For pieces that can be resized, whilst we can offer a resizing and alternations service, we do recommend that you carry this out with your local jeweller as this will always ensure you are happy with the alteration and size.

If you would still like us to assist, please feel free to contact us before purchasing so that we can provide an accurate quote.

Please note we cannot offer refunds for pieces that have been altered or resized.
